[Sigia-l] recommendation tools

Hi - I'm looking into the advantages different kinds of
recommendations. I would like to hear about any tests you've done or
best practices you use that contrast personalization approaches with
ranking approaches (i.e. when should we use each and how do we
successfully combine them?). In the design process, are these types of
tools perceived as an important part of the navigation structure, as
an extension of marketing, or something else? Do they evolve together
with other navigation structures, or are they reviewed and revised
separately?

As a side note note, I like the current rules for posting to the list.
