Seeking a Senior Information Architect on Staples websites and internal information systems. Position located in the Greater Boston area. Who you are As the ideal candidate for this position, you have a deep understanding of usability design issues and extensive experience designing large scale websites and systems. You are an expert at turning the initial business idea into simple and cohesive user experiences. Above all, you: * Possess a distinct opinion regarding the right experience and can voice your thoughts as a leader, simply and clearly. * Are experienced in leading brainstorming sessions with a diverse group of stakeholders. * Can convert your thoughts into lucid visuals that convey both the big picture and detail great designs demand. You can make Visio/Omnigraffle sing. * Have a deep awareness and interest in the craft of user experience and enjoy its practice. What you will do * Lead the usability/IA input for large scale web and systems design projects that influence the Staples experience. These range from our flagship website Staples.com to the retail store checkout system, direct mail and printed catalogs, receipts and packing slips etc. * Contribute to the overall usability plan including initial research and occasional testing. * Facilitate integration of discovery research into business requirements. * Create clear deliverables that depict the user experience, including wireframes, user flows, and storyboards. * Perform expert reviews and presenting the findings and recommendations to a wide audience * Work with the Manager of IA to drive long term IA strategy and vision by: o Defining IA strategy implementation across projects o Promoting reusable IA/user-interaction models/patterns o Developing a holistic view of all Staples systems and maintain documentation to reflect current state. * Mentor junior team members and manage contractors as needed. Job Qualifications * Minimum of 6 years of information architecture experience in a corporate or consulting environment required. Strong background in a retail/e-commerce environment and/or web-based application design preferred. * Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Cognitive Psychology, MIS, Industrial Design or related discipline required. Master's degree preferred. * Portfolio demonstrating expertise in translating business strategies into visual representations such as conceptual diagrams, task flows, and site maps. Expertise in Visio preferred. * Training or solid experience in leading high-level, cross-functional definition meetings that map out the user experience of new projects. * Experience managing internal and contract employees essential. * Understanding of system development methodology including the Software Development Life Cycle and techniques for contextual inquiry and task analysis required. * Experience running usability tests and analyzing findings preferred. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------- Interested candidates should apply online at http://tinyurl.com/4jztp2r and search for job number 832347 Please, no phone calls.
