Sitecopy, synchronize

Hi all, I met with this error "sitecopy: Refusing to delete all local files with a synchronize operation. sitecopy: Use --update to update the remote site." when I try this command "sitecopy --synchronize ofo". My local directory has all the permissions. Could anyone please advise why this error.
