Can't get sftp to work

I am trying to get sftp to work with sitecopy 0.16.1. I run Fedora Core
4 Linux on the local client. When I try running sitecopy -u (my site
name), then I get a password prompt (even though I put my password into
the .sitecopyrc file), and then the program hangs.

I tried adding -dsftp, as suggested in a prior email, but no debugging
message was displayed.

I'd be grateful for any tips.
