I dont understand why it is out of scope.

If I am creating a set of trees under a remote server, below a certain
structure that does not exist in the remote server, it would be great if the
user could set a flag (-x) to replicate the given structure before the copy
starts, since otherwise it fails.

Well, right now i will keep the forked sitecopy here, working, and i will try
to get the debian package with the patch introduced, as a patch in the debian
tree.
