How to Integrate with PHP or external java webapp

Hi guys.

I am examining Sitemesh and got questions.

How can Sitemesh  integrate server-side web architectures that are not Java based such as CGI (Perl/Python/C/C++/etc), PHP, Cold Fusion, etc... ? 
(... excerpt from SiteMesh features)

I could't find any examples about above. 
( what I found says it cannot .. I hope it is not true)

Question 1.
Does it mean that we need  some adapter servlet to run PHP and CGI ,etc on AP server ?And  we need to make our own adapter servlet ?

Questoion 2.
Should I just read document and forum more deeply to find what I want?

Questio 3.
How about java-java integration ?
Can Integrate two different weapps  on one tomcat ?
( I know how to share decorators between different web apps)

What I want is to integrate  my java wepapp on Tomcat and PHP on Apache.
One Menu  Pane  has 2 links. one navigate to java app and 
the other php app on main pane.
