Debugging

I have been entirely unsuccessful in getting SiteMesh to work on Tomcat 5.5, and only slightly successful getting it to work on WebLogic 8.1 SP4. Is there any debugging or extra logging I can turn on to see what SiteMesh is doing, or why it isn't working? It's getting quite frustrating. Thanks.
