One of two things is happening. First, nothing is decorated. No errors, but no decorations. This I can chalk up to my lack of knowledge of SiteMesh, although at this point I feel like I understand what's happening, so I'm surprised it's not working. Second, many of the examples (or some of my own tests) are throwing IllegalStateExceptions: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot call getWriter() after getOutputStream() com.opensymphony.module.sitemesh.filter.PageResponseWrapper.getPageWriter(PageResponseWrapper.java:176) com.opensymphony.module.sitemesh.filter.PageResponseWrapper.getWriter(PageResponseWrapper.java:166) org.apache.catalina.servlets.DefaultServlet.serveResource(DefaultServlet.java:776) org.apache.catalina.servlets.DefaultServlet.doGet(DefaultServlet.java:335) javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:689) javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:802) com.opensymphony.module.sitemesh.taglib.page.ApplyDecoratorTag.doEndTag(ApplyDecoratorTag.java:225) org.apache.jsp.decorators.main_jsp._jspx_meth_page_applyDecorator_0(org.apache.jsp.decorators.main_jsp:225) org.apache.jsp.decorators.main_jsp._jspService(org.apache.jsp.decorators.main_jsp:95) org.apache.jasper.runtime.HttpJspBase.service(HttpJspBase.java:99) javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:802) org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServletWrapper.service(JspServletWrapper.java:325) org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.serviceJspFile(JspServlet.java:295) org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.service(JspServlet.java:245) javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:802) com.opensymphony.module.sitemesh.filter.PageFilter.applyDecorator(PageFilter.java:169) com.opensymphony.module.sitemesh.filter.PageFilter.doFilter(PageFilter.java:68) I did see some references in the forums to an error similar to this with static pages in Tomcat, but I'm getting these in the examples, which I would have expected to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. SiteMesh looks perfect for what we want to do, and I'm looking forward to getting it working.
