Folks, A little closer to understanding the problem.... The CookieDecoratorMapper is definately working some of the time. It appears that it only works when server is getting the decorator for a particular page for the first time (including when the web server restarts). Thus it appears that change of cookie is not sufficient for Sitemesh to reload the page. If the page has had its decorator calculated before, then the chain of mappers is bypassed for a cached decorator. I think cookie for a site should be treated as quesry string parameters in terms of hitting the cache or not...
