Hi --
PyDO-2.0a3 is now available:
http://download.berlios.de/skunkweb/PyDO-2.0a3.tar.gz
There are a number of improvements since the last release:
* a spanking new package name;
* an Oracle driver (no introspection yet);
* an MSSQL driver;
* table introspection -- they can find fields, sequences, and unique
constraints for you, and you can cache them to disk if you
want to avoid querying the db for table structure every process;
* a Swiss-Army-knife function called "fetch" that integrates just
about any arbitrary SQL with PyDO.
There are also a number of bugfixes and a few minor api changes.
Much of the new work, I am glad to say, was contributed by persons
other than me: Jonathan Ellis, Tim Golden, and Hamish Lawson. Thank
you all!
My feeling is that this could be the last alpha release, and we could
move into a beta period where the emphasis is on developing tests,
expanding the set of drivers, finding and fixing bugs, improving
documentation, and generally applying TLC, with less of an emphasis on
new features (although new work could go on concurrently in another
branch). However, if after this release, folks really want this or
that feature in the final release, there is time to negotiate. Speak
now, or rest in peace until 2.1.
Cheers,
js
