Making Inventory Sub Items

Hello lists......its been awhile since I've posted any questions.  The one 
that I have is regarding inventory items which is becoming harder to manage.  
Is there a way to group existing inventory by type, for example

CPU
   this model
   this model
   this model
Motherboards
    this model
    this model
    this model
