Dunc,
I don't know what happened, but I can tell you what I fixed. In the
original check.tex, the vspace{-0.5cm} aligned the data with the pre-printed
check fields and put the address where it would display in the window
envelope. After wasting the seven checks, I tweaked the code using plain
paper to test fit the results. Changing that initial spacing to vspace{1.3cm}
moved the data to the proper place.
The result is that the template works properly once again, but I'd still
like to learn why the adjustment was necessary. As I wrote in the original
message, the template was created 2004-10-01 and worked fine until
yesterday's run.
Cue the theme from The Twilight Zone.
