StoreDescription with .php & .asp pages

Is there a way to gather the StoreDescription using the fs method of indexing on php, asp and aspx pages.

>From what I gather from swish-config.html they can only be gathered when using the libxml2 parser (which I am not entirely clear on).

So I am wondering if there are work arounds for this.
