I'll throw out an idea I'd thought about in another context:

I wonder if it makes sense to have a separate file to configure the UI, 
with one or more templates in the file?

Let's imagine an example that relates specifically to blogging:

You have:

	-	a generic template as it currently exists
	-	a template for entering additional metadata that you want to 
associate with a blog entry; examples:

		- an online news article where you want to enter the newspaper, the 
date of publication, and multiple keywords
		- music; you want to post info on a new CD and include the artist, 
the title, and, say, an Amazon url
		- ???

If the config file thus had more than one template defined, there'd be 
a pop-up selector to choose from.
