a running syncato

ok... I have syncato from cvs. After many hours of struggling to get 
all the prerequisites built and installed, I think I have it. The 
software I used: python 2.3.2/berkely db 4.2.52 / berkeley db xml 1.2.1 
/ xerces 2.5.0 /bsddb3-4.2.4 / libpathan 1.2 .

Some comments:

* the songlist stylesheets doesn't exist, even though layout.xsl 
imports it.
* couple of default dirs don't get made, and the directions don't tell 
you you need to make them: data/work-dir data/file-dir, ErrorMsgs
* the file locations are kind of obnoxious ... everything is in one 
giant blob. Why doesn't this use distutils or something to that effect?

Anyway, after four days it's finally up and running. Now to go in and 
start replacing all the stylesheets.

My application of syncato should be fairly interesting ... I intend to 
use it to drive a literary analysis based in semantic markup of the 
extant body of works that reference Roland (one of Charlemagne's 
knights & commanders). You'll be able to use the XPath query 
capabilities of syncato to explore different thematic and structural 
elements and see how different cultures and different times have 
reinterpreted the mythos. At least, that's the notion.

I'm going to try to write up some documentation on customizing syncato 
for possible inclusion in the distribution. Is there any preference as 
to the format that I use?
