I dont' know crap about mac osx but when you run the appserver (webware)
do you get output to the terminal?

I've found watching what's going on there usually gives better feedback 
then any tracebacks in the browser.

If you are running from an interactive terminal see if you get more 
informative error messages there, perhaps trouble parsing stylesheets or 
something.
