Ah,

That makes sense. It seems the 'category' handling of the API's assume
you go in and create a list of categories and apply them to posts. Whereas
with syncato you can have unlimited categories created on the fly...

I was thinking of just an xpath query to return a list of existing
categories to use for posts, but that is limiting in that you can't seem
to create categories with most of the weblog clients i've tried.
