Further to the foregoing discussion, does TTI publish a table of
academic
research (actual and proposed) and a paired list of commercial areas of
interest looking for research?

It's not quite as user-friendly as that (!) but the information is out there...

Best place to start is http://www.tti-ltd.com/schemes/index.html which then leads you to http://www.tcsonline.org.uk/ from which you can select
the category that(best) matches you (research/Business etc)

Eventually you find your way to http://www.tcsonline.org.uk/graduates/vacsandopps.html for current vacancies.

You can see the current schemes at http://www.tcd-db.npl.co.uk/web_user/pkg_npl.p_quick_search

Tthere is a regional network of TCS centres that do the facilitating work on the ground, talk to local businesses, run monthly seminars, provide
support for associates and supervisors - eg the Scottish one is at http://www.tcscentre.co.uk/ (though I confess I found it hard to find equivalents
down south!).

There is also a list of regional reps at http://www.tcsonline.org.uk/shared/consultants.html These are the people to monitor the projects
throughout, but will help the proposers frame ideas for new projects.

Lastly universities typically has a single point of contact as well - someone who knows the refent research, but spends a lot of time liasing wiht
local industry (in our case Pete Cameron-MacDonald).
hope this all helps
Tom
