ViewML originally used the konqueror file manager (kfm) v1.0,
and is actually based on the QT library.  We wrote a wrapper
layer around Qt, based on FLTK.  If this wrapper layer is
removed or replaced based on another widget set, then
FLTK is not required.  So far, no code from the original kfm
HTML widget has been modified.
