The W3C have historically concentrated on producing "testbed"
implementations of things which commercial enterprises have not shown
willingness to do.  With the WCAG, there are a number of competing
proprietary products, so I doubt W3C will get involved.  I'd be happy to be
proved wrong, though.

No, that was news to me.  I'm not denying that proprietary accessibility
checkers exist, but I think they are of limited value for promoting the
WCAG.  I did notice this site offers an online service for $299 per year per
client... for less per client than that, I'm offering to produce something
that is yours forever, including an unlimited upgrade service when new
versions become available.  Of course, if you want to pay me $299, it'll put
you higher in the sponsors list and help us hit the target sooner.  Was
there something else that I should have spotted on that site?
