[MACCAWS] intro

I'll follow Chris' lead, and fire up an intro but mine will be much
shorter :)

You can view my resume on my personal site if you are that
interested. But here's the overview:

I began my career as a graphic designer, and moved to web around
1993/1994. (My boss basically tossed an HTML book at me and said "we
need to do this.") I had always been interested in "programming" and
so it really inspired me. (REM statements and typing line numbers on
a C64..but I digress).

After a few years I got sick of who I was working for, so I set up
shop at home for a couple years and built web sites. I'm sure many of
you know how it is: You are everything from president to janitor for
yourself.  I moved from there to a startup, to web shop Scient. Then
to a small new media company after the "big layoff". Finally, I've
landed contracting in Las Vegas, working for an ASP writing IE5+ only
code. Ugh.

I have been frustrated by browser incompatibilities from day one. I
was very excited when the WaSP came out, and they have done fine
work. I don't consider myself an expert in the standards field. I
know my way around, and like lots of us, I am still learning.

I'm up for group leader, and I in fact took the initiative based on a
couple suggestions and kind of got the ball rolling here.
Essentially, I believe a leader should be able to do one thing: lead.
I could go on and tell you that I've always been tagged the "leader
type", always captain of my team, blah blah blah. So what.

I think the best thing you can judge me on is what has gone on here
since July 9. I don't pretend to take all the credit for it, a leader
shouldn't because he doesn't deserve it! But I think I have done a
decent job of trying to "steer" and I think that is where my talent
as far as this group is concerned lies.

I like to solve problems, and this thing is one big problem. And I
like to get people together. And I do enjoy what has gone on here so
far (even some of the negative stuff, its been a challenge.)

So that's me. Maybe not too impressive to some! But leadership isn't
brain surgery, its organization, diligence, communication, and common
sense.
