I have a tendency to agree with all of Tara's reservations on this one. So here's a proposal that would let the steering committee decide on the course of action. This does not cut across Tom's legal advice finding - we'll need it sometime. Accept no money save that which can be raised of ourselves, unless and until it becomes necessary (open, I know, intentionally so). When/if it does become necessary to raise money, having regard to all the caveats that have been expressed and independence and tax, we revisit the question and decide which position we take and possibly get someone to take on the responsibility of finance/legals. BTW, I think this discussion started off with Tom's remarks about group leadership and the lack of a financials person, so we should by giving a freedom such as the one I've outlined accelerate the election of management process. Hope this makes sense - as its now a little after 4am here in the UK, and I just got up to let the dogs out and decided to check email.
