I don't want to put words in steph's mouth, but I kinda got the impression
that she wasn't suggesting forming a partnership with people like WaSP now,
but simply being aware of what everyone else is doing.

Someone mentioned that that's a Research Team job, maybe it is.

Personally I'd be a bit hacked off to have slaved away on a document on Topic
X only to find that WaSP wrote one 3 weeks ago and would have told us had we
asked.

Surely we have enough personal acquaintances out there to be able to
informally discuss who's doing what?

As long as the Research Team are kept informed as to what we know ("WaSP have
a paper on X coming out in 2 weeks") then they should be able to produce
useful and innovative work without us either having our heads buried in the
sand or pretending to be bigger than we are.

If we communicate all this I'm sure we'll get along fine.

Steph, if that's not what you meant then sorry!

Eat some chips, have a pint of Guinness, get that blood flowing again :o)
