Rick: if you do decide to get a Mac for testing, and
don't want to go the eBay route, there's a reseller
called SmallDogElectronics.com that is an Apple
Refurb. Reseller and they have great prices.

Also: check out the Darwin Project, which endeavors to
port OS X (eventually) to the x86 platform. I think
they have a beta already here:
