Ok, I agree - I just misunderstood then. You might simpy get a text
list running down the page with some stray images, but at least the
page would work.

OTOH, you have the running argument that the type of people who are
running such a system - JS killed, or running Lynx or a browser that
doesn't support CSS or JS - isn't a customer of Amazon anyway. I'm
not sure how much I agree with the statement, but there is some
validity there.

Anyway, we blew off on a tangent here - I think the example is
excellent as a proof of concept, and he is working on making it
better. Definitely a good research piece.
