RE: [MACCAWS] CSS Books

I went shopping yesterday (in Leicester -  fairly major city in the
U.K.) 
to buy Eric Meyer's CSS2 Programmers Reference book (its about time I
did 
as I need a single reference rather than a sheaf of notes that spills
onto 
the floor with great regularity). Not only did I not find it, but found
a 
dearth of books on CSS. This was visiting three major booksellers, 
Watersones being one of them.  The only CSS books were XHTML and CSS (on

the MACCAWS booklist) and the Visual Quickstart guide DHTML and CSS.

I found exactly the same thing on Saturday.  A guy called Christopher
Schmitt, who's the "list mom" for babblelist has got a book on css out
published by New Riders.  Even though I've got the Meyer books and the
Hakon Lee one, I thought I'd try and find Christopher's one to see if it
went beyond the very basics and into the more advance stuff.  Could I
find anything on css (except the titles you mentioned above)?  No!

From the books that I've read over the past year or so, none of them
seem to give their code examples to standards.  You'll find JavaScript
books with "type=text/javascript" missing, in every example, img
elements with missing alt attributes, generally lax mentions of
DocTypes.  I really don't think that there are any books that I've read
where I've thought "yes, they've got it right".
