I did try it and it works.  A telnet from the proxy to
polyclt, proxy to polysrv and vice-versa works fine.
Ping works fine too.  I'm going to try posting this
on comp.unix.solaris and see if I get any response.
I figured this group might be the best bet since 
everybody here can understand the kind of environment
that I'm running the tests in.
