In the file, the first column should be the value you want passed to your command, and the second column what is displayed in the menu. Solved, thanks. I had read here ... http://doxfer.webmin.com/Webmin/Custom_Commands But I had typed an incorrect file path which I did not spot. Unfortunately the Custom Commands module does not return error that file path is not found. For the record, I did find one useful tip for creating Type: Menu directly, without a conf file. Here is an example of Greek alphabet menu .. paste full string into Menu .. Value field .. printf "alpha\nbeta\ngamma\ndelta\nepsilon\nzeta\neta\ntheta\niota\nkappa\nlambda\nmu\nnu\nxi\nom
icron\npi\nrho\nsigma\ntau\nupsilon\nphi\nchi\npsi\nomega" | Note that the closing pipe character "|" is needed to create the drop down menu items. This tip was found here ... https://bo

OK, that explains it. I will add a check to the code to produce an error if you enter a menu file that doesn't exist.
