I was jumping through hoops to try to setup Custom Commands to be interactive. Here is what I ended up with. I have installed webmin on a remote VM instance of Ubuntu 16.04 on Google Cloud Platform. I have access to VM via SSH session. Whiptail was already installed by default on the remote Ubuntu 16.04 server. Using Webmin File Manager I created a sub-folder for scripts. In there I created a test bash script .. whiptail_example.sh Using File Manager I changed ownership of script to <user>:<user> and made it executable. Then via SSH console I can now run that script in VM to get the shell interactivity I want. ...... / //An added note./ Before taking the above route I tried running Others > Text Login to see if I could run whiptail script This Text Login shell prompts for login: and Password: Because a Google Cloud VM instance doesn't have a default sudo password I created one via SSH session using sudo passwd Then I switched back to Text Login and all login attempts were rejected. Login incorrect. I don't know how to get in via Text Login. Why can I still access the VM via SSH session but not Text Login? dl ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, SlashDot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot - Forwarded by the Webmin mailing list at [email protected] To remove yourself from this list, go to http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/webadmin-list
