Thanks for that idea.   I see that I can use a Custom Command (with
menus) to /compose/compile/ a whiptail script which can then run in
separate SSH console in Google Compute Engine.

What I am aiming to do is create a batch of workflows (sets of commands)
which can be applied to a clean install of Ubuntu 16.04 VM.
For example reinstalling apache2, php, mysql, tomcat, github to transfer
files, etc. in a batch run to quickly redeploy packages and assets.

In fact even the menu lists in the Custom Command can be prebuilt.

I'll try this approach.
