I guess this was way off. Sorry. Seems like listFiles() uses list(). 
But when creating File objects from all the filenames it uses new 
File(directory, filename).

cp with æøå on HFS+ works on my mac with HFS+ when I use the correct 
Character Set Encoding (UTF-8) in Terminal.app.
