Deployment monitoring

Hello,

I have been working with WebObjects deployment since 2000, I have been using  the conventional WO deployment using JavaMonitor.

Now we will install some new servers and we are wondering how can we obtian the most of WO Deployment. We also want to have a process to automatically monitor our apps and to send us an email whenever it finds a problem (a healt check or heart beat I think that's the way it is called), does anyone know how to do this?

Which is the best deployment scenario? WebObjects deployment, JBoss or Tomcat deployment
Which is more stable, how can I fine tune my deployment?

Currently we are using Solaris and linux (mac os x server in the future) with Apache as webserver and the apps works well. We have faced some problems like when an apps crashes the monitor doesn't send an email.

Any pointer and documentation will be greatly appreciated
