I'm not sure what is happening.  I have not edited the wotaskd script  
nor the javawoservice.sh one.  I do get a thread dump when I send a  
kill -QUIT to wotaskd.

Which user is wotaskd running under?  Does that user have write  
permission on /var/log/wotaskd.log or wherever the startup script  
(and your redirection) is telling it to write?
