Process names not showing up and lsof reports nothing

Hello all,

I'm having a problem on a client's machine with processes not 
displaying their full name, even when I use the "wide" option -w.  
Also, on the same machine, lsof does not show any open files, even for 
wotaskd!

These "java" processes are WO processes, and should have much larger 
command lines:

This machine also has the "too many files open" problem that is soooo 
prevalent these days...


FYI, here is the machine's configuration:

Has anyone ever experienced this "no command line" problem?  We are 
trying to write a script to kill wotaskd once a day (or so) as a 
workaround to the too many open files problem, but it's hard to find 
which process to kill when there is no way to tell which process is 
which!
