data freshness

My object model has a number of relationships. Within these
relationships, different individual objects have different relevance
based on particular attributes. I've worked with this by using EO's
relationship model and placed filters on the relationships. However,
data is not refreshed automagically as it is with the basic
relationships. How can i fix this?
