I wouldn't overwrite older versions.  Just have

/usr/local/apple/wo52
/usr/local/apple/wo53

etc and set your NEXT_ROOT appropriately.

That is what I do.  (and assign specific IP addresses to each running  
wotaskd and JavaMonitor)
