EOF as an EJB Container?

Our J2EE/EJB architect just sent around this article:

http://dev2dev.bea.com/technologies/ejb/articles/Mandava.jsp

I must say, it's astounding to me that EJB is only just now supporting
Container-managed relationships, Dynamic queries, automatic primary key
generation, cascade delete support, optimistic locking, etc., ... and then
apparently in some cases only through BEA's proprietary "add-on features to the
EJB 2.0 specification". (!?!) EOF has had all of these features for years now.

What happened to the idea of using EOF as an EJB Container? Is this possible
now?
