Question: If only one company were making the automobile, or the telephone, would you be so eager to just suggest that we simply "let it go" when said product was discontinued? Sure, the Honda CRX has been discontinued, and so has the Honda Insight. I have let go. But EOF is a powerful tool unlike any other. There just isn't a sufficient alternative. It's like going back to the horse-draw carriage, or telegraph. Just because most people don't understand, or even because the original vendor was bought out by a company who doesn't understand, that doesn't mean we should just move on. Progress is one thing. Regression is another. I see your smiley face, but I wanted to be clear that the lack of EOF really does affect my ability to complete certain projects with a reasonable amount of effort.
