Digital Business Ecosystem

We hope to make parts of our WebObjects application available via Web 
Services / SOAP which I currently know little about. We develop online 
accounts/ecommerce for small businesses and may add web services for 
supporting use of Actinic as an ecommerce front end feeding into our 
accounts back end (for example).

There is an EU funded project called the Digital Business Ecosystem ( 
http://www.digital-ecosystem.org/html/ ) that has been recommended to me by 
someone who has been in discussions with them about using their technology. 
 From what I have been told and from examining their web site I can find 
very little about it and was just wondering if anyone had come across it or 
is participating?

If anyone can comment on the pros and cons of using WebObjects support for 
defining Web Services (SOAP?) as opposed to something like this DBE then 
I'd love to hear it.
