Oh ... and one more thing:

OODBMSs seem to fall into two camps:

1. Heavyweight OODBMSs

Old school OODBMSs
Trying to be the "Oracle's" of OODBMSs
Trying to do the SQL of OODBMSs
Expensive
Not selling well
Looking for niches (e.g. media databases)
E.g. Ontos, O2, Cache, Objectivity, ...

2. Lightweight OODBMSs

New school OODBMSs
A new and simpler approach to OODBMS
Less baggage (from SQL etc.)
Free and open source or cheap
Generating quite a bit of interest
E.g. DB40, ObjectDB, ...

In particular, checkout <http://www.db4o.com>

Cheers,
Ashley.
