Apple, Microsoft, Java and the Web?

Howdy All, Why is it (if it is the case) that Microsoft sees Java as a threat but Apple doesn't? Considering they both make desktop software platforms ... (Java sucks is not a good answer ;-) Why is it that Microsoft sees value in its Web platform (ASP.Net) and Apple doesn't (WO)? Apple seems (just guessing) to be offloading their Web platform to Java/Ruby ... Microsoft puts a lot of effort into their Web development platform. Just interested in your thoughts.
