Agree with you :)

The "WO open-source" discussion always brought up a smilar long thread in
the mailing lists, be in 2000, 2002 or today...I guess people are
passionate about
it.

After the WWDC 2006 news, it's my honest belief that the strategic
opportunities (thinking
about 2007, 2008 and beyond...) really changed, so I brought this
question up again.

Finally - while it hate to bring links to  rumor sites, AppleInsider
has a pretty good track record - this very question could have crossed
Apple's mind...

IMHO, these crown jewels will get collect dust in the *coming years* if there is
no additional infusion compared to current infusion - be it from Apple
or outside. In that particular scenario, I see "Hypercard" replaced
with "WO" ...

Again, this would be the negative scenario if the WWDC 2006 news are
just hot air.

 If indeed - and that's what i hope for - we see additional allocation
 resources in the runtime now that the tools are set free - it's all
good for WO in the coming months and years without going open source
for now.

IMHO, this would also be a huge additional investment for Apple even
if the result is tied to its platform, but who knows...

It is my sincere belief that open or shared source would be good -
not trying to be naive about open source as a general cure :) - for
both parties in the *particular* case of WO.

Near or distant Future - that's up to Apple to decide :))
