Not sure what you mean...

On my Mac from which I'm doing testing?  No, and I don't need to.  I  
can use telnet with IP addresses, pass in the desired site's FQDN as  
the HTTP Host header.

On the IIS6 windowbox?  It's not mine and I have no access to it,  
other than HTTP to port 80.  Does that machine have a hosts file  
which IIS consults and which is required to match?  Hmmm.  Don't need  
that with Apache virtual hosting.
