The Software Engineering group is looking for a Senior WebObjects Engineer = with at least=20 5+ years of experience in WebObjects 4/5 in Objective-C or Java to help bui= ld/support=20 eCommerce applications for our diverse companies. This individual will report to the Director of Software Engineering (me) an= d be responsible=20 for (but not limited to) the following tasks: * Being creative. * Being an independent thinker, but open to others' ideas. * Being a good trouble shooter and problem solver. * Knowing how to balance between "over engineering" and "doing something qu= ickly" (and=20 knowing the risks/benefits of either approach). * Being productive with little guidance (a self starter). * Working well on a small team and as part of a larger organization. * Learning something new every day and teaching those around you. * Supporting/enhancing existing eCommerce applications that are written in = both=20 WebObjects 4 (Objective-C) and in WebObjects 5 (Java). =A0The thrust for th= is position is=20 WO5/Java, but someone who can work in both environments (or is willing to l= earn) will be=20 a tremendous asset. * In addition to supporting existing applications, this person will be inst= rumental in our=20 movement from our legacy WO4 code to WO5. * Participate in project planning and estimation. * Mentor other developers, help set direction for best practices and improv= e the=20 development environment. * Oversee the design, development and testing of assigned projects. * Learn business processes and how they interact with systems. =A0This incl= udes analyzing=20 "project specifications" (and I use that term lightly) to make sure that th= e technical=20 implementation marries well with the business objectives as laid out by the= project=20 managers. * Learn business data structures, how they relate to each other, and how to= utilize them=20 fully within a project. =A0This includes reading SQL (PostgreSQL and Sybase= specifically) to=20 understand existing applications and writing SQL so that it is optimal for= =20 database/application performance.
