BBC News Interactive's technical team supports some of the most visited
content websites in the UK, including BBC News, BBC Sport and CBBC
Newsround. The team works across multiple content delivery platforms
including Web, Digital TV, CEEFAX, Streaming and Broadcast Media, PDA,
Email and WAP. 
You'll be designing and developing the next generation of our Sports
Results system, delivering up-to-the minute information to Web, Digital
TV, CEEFAX and other platforms. You'll be creating a fast, reliable
framework suitable for reuse with other types of content. You'll oversee
the professional development of a team of software engineers, with a
range of experience. 
At least three years' commercial development experience in some of these
areas: OO software design; object model to relational database mapping;
messaging middleware; web development; reliable, high performance
systems. You will demonstrate interest and expertise in coding
standards, version control, design and code reviews and testing

You'll provide applications support and software development working as
part of a development team. You'll help design test frameworks, set up
test labs and build test suites. Ensuring that everything is well
documented, and that the documentation is accessible to all parties,
you'll build or recommend tools to simplify the quality assurance
process. 
You'll have at least two years' development experience covering areas
such as designing and deploying testing processes, tools and
environments; test automation at all levels; unit, regression and
performance testing. You'll be adept at communicating designs, processes
and test results to a variety of groups; and at integrating test systems
into an existing development environment. You should also be familiar
with or ready to learn about WebObjects, Apache, Visual Basic, Java,
Perl, C, Objective-C and XML. Ref. 59485/G
