Solutions always come along precisely ten minutes after I post to a  
mailing list, and I don't know why.  In this case, the problem was  
that the 'value type', which I don't usually have exposed in  
EOModeler so hadn't been thinking about, was set to 'c' which is the  
specifier for a Boolean.  Change that to 'i', no more exception.
