Thanks for the tip. I had already taken a look at
JCDiscussionBoard, however it wasn't immediately
obvious to me how its login window was being
generated. (No nib file in the project, and little
obvious in the rules file.) However, I'll go back and
have a look at it again to see what I can pick up
there. 

If you've any book/tutorial recomendations that
address these types of Java client/ D2J issues, then
I'd be very interested in them.
