Said kindred spirit thought he'd have time to do the kinds of things
you outline, but finally realized he wouldn't. He even posted a "call
for webmaster" and got a number of replies, which have languished in
his inbox for well over a year, rather sadly (and rudely, to those who
replied) undealt with.

If "someone" or even some two people will volunteer to spearhead this
effort, the kindred spirit will make arrangements for an account on
the machine hosting awklang.org for the new webmaster(s) and to give them
responsibility for managing that domain's content.

The kindred spirit will be offline until around Tuesday, but will deal
with emails then.

Thanks,

While the "troll light" is on and after the discussion on "reporting GNU
awk bugs" from earlier this month, seems fitting to bring back the
question "What's the deal with an Awk web site?":

 - Seems like the domain awklang.org is held by a kindred spirit.
 - We could have an Awk source code repository area, seeding it with many
   of the contributions found here:
   <ftp://ftp.freefriends.org/arnold/Awkstuff>
 - We could have an Awk-based WikiWiki(sp?) on the site (here's our
   choices for an engine:
   <http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiEngines#AwkLanguage>) for people to
   contribute their code, opionions, pointers, bad grammar, helpful
   hints and typos.
 - Combine work already done here:
   <http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/AWK_programming_language>
 - Find ways to display the GAWK: Effective AWK Programming Manual in
   savvy ways.
 - Slap the GNU GFDL on the whole site.
 - Stand back and watch it grow.

I'm sure others have ideas.
