it works only in emacs-w3m buffers, but i didn't yet think of making a
little hack plus a keybinding inside gnus' article-keymap.  what i
personally prefer is a link in the email pointing to a page with some
comment and links from there to the downloadable stuff.  that way i
can bookmark the introductory page.  for example, the intro might
contain a timestamp or version info, so i can see if a new version has
to be downloaded.

i can imagine other people working this way as well.
