Soft hyphens

Hello Petko and everyone,

How does PmWiki deal with soft hyphens (SHY)?

Background to my question:

I use a recipe "diff2" (https://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/Test/Diff2) that Petko built for me. With it I can compare two text sections.

Now I was confused: Differences were shown for words that were absolutely the same in file 1 and file 2.

I looked at the files with Notepad++ and the explanation is: Soft hyphens (SHY) are built in. Notepad++ shows "SHY" there. PmWiki (in the editor) shows NOTHING.

It worries me now that there are characters built into my pages that I cannot see in PmWiki. I don't know if they are doing more nonsense, but in any case they are messing up the recipe. They probably get in there by copy and paste (from an OCR program, for example).

I would prefer to eliminate these characters. Is there a way to do this within PmWiki? I can't find anything in the documentation.

(I set utf-8.)

Thanks in advance!

Martin
